Common Questions

NOTE: These instructions do NOT pertain to the Office of Unemployment initial temporary passwords. 

If you are a Job Seeker, from the Home Page, click the "My Profile" button at the top, right-hand corner.

If you are a K-12 Student, click "For Students". Then click the "My Profile" button. 

  1. Once you've signed in, you should see your name on the left-hand side, toward the top of the screen.
  2. Underneath your name, you should see a hyperlink "Edit Your Account"
  3. At the top of the screen, under "Log in Information", you should see your email address.
  4. Click, "Change Password" and follow the instructions. 
  5. Click, "Update Account" to submit. 

Password Requirements

  • 8 to 20 characters long.
  • At least one number.
  • One symbol (excluding ' @ - " <).
  • A combination of upper and lower case characters. 

 

To reset a password while not logged in:

  1. Click My Profile.
  2. Click forgot password.
  3. In the box that opens enter the email on the account.
  4. Click submit. 
  5. A reset email will be generated to that email account. 
  6. Access your email account and open the email from omjnoreply@monster.com.
  7. Click the hyperlink in it to open the webpage to make a new password.

 

To reset a password by answering your security question:

  1. Click My Profile
  2. Click forgot password
  3. In the box that opens asking for an email, do not enter an email instead below the submit button click on the sentence that says “I am an Ohio Program Participant, and I don’t have an email." 
  4. It will then ask the security question, Answer correctly and you will then be prompted to set a new password. 

Note: The answers are case sensitive.

 

Make changes to your account settings from your profile. 

If you are a Job Seeker, from the Home Page, click the "My Profile" button at the top, right-hand corner.

If you are a K-12 Student, click "For Students". Then click the "My Profile" button. 

  1. Once you've signed in, you should see your name on the left-hand side, toward the top of the screen.
  2. Underneath your name, you should see a hyperlink "Edit Your Account"
  3. From here, you can edit your contact information, military service, career & employment information, and more!

From any page, click the "My Profile" button found in the top, right-hand corner.

  1. Find the "Programs I'm Interested In, Ohio-based Employment Programs" section, in the left-hand column.
  2. Click "Search Programs".
  3. In the right column, click the checkboxes to sort and filter.
  4. Click "Update" to populate results.
  5. Search & filter, by group:  
  • Dislocated
  • Employed but looking
  • Employers
  • High school youth
  • Special population
  • Students
  • Targeted population
  • Unemployed
  • Universal population
  • Veterans
  • Youth
  • Youth offenders

More Than A Job Search Site

  1. From the home page, in the top header, click "News & Events".
  2. At the top of the page, click "Find Events".
  3. Here, you can search by county, from the right-hand column. 
  4. Click an event name to read the description.
  5. Click, "Register for this Event" to add the event to your OhioMeansJobs.com calendar. 
  6. Verify your personal information and click, "Register Now". 

Find job fairs, workshops, and other events going on in your community. Register for events that sound good to you. Keep track of everything with the calendar available in your profile. 

NOTE: You must be signed in to your profile before you can register for an event or job fair. You do not need to register for job fairs, just add the event to your profile.

  2. Click, "View Test".
  3. Click, "Visit Online Training Center". 
  4. From here, you have the option to select a wide variety of training and tutorials. 

NOTE: The ONLY way to save your work is by logging into your free account. If you do not log-in, your progress will not be saved. 

Tips For Success

  1. Read the instructions before you begin. Once you feel comfortable, click "Start Test". 
  2. Take charge of your in-progress tests and tutorials from "My Assessments", found in the blue header of the "LearningExpress" page.

You can store multiple resumes on OhioMeansJobs.com

If you are a K-12 Student, click "For Students. Then click the "My Profile" button. 

  1. Find the "Resumes" section, in the right-hand column.
  2. Click, "Manage Resumes".
  3. From here, you have the option to Create a Resume OR Upload an Existing Resume. 
  4. You must complete all the required fields, marked with a red asterisk (*). 
    • When you create a new resume, you can "Select Resume Sections" to format a resume that best suits the job you are applying for. 

For each resume you add, you have additional functionality available.

  1. In the "Status" column, be sure to click "Inactive".
  2. This opens up a dialog box. 
  3. Select, "Active", if you want your resume to be found by employers and recruiters.
  4. When you select, "Active" you will be offered additional options.
  5. Click "Update" to confirm your selections. 

        IMPORTANT TO NOTE

  • Only one resume can be active at a time. When you make a resume status "active" if you have already set a different resume to "active" the resume status of your first resume will be automatically changed to "inactive".
  • We recommend that you click the "active" link on your resume every 30 days. This maximizes the chances of your resume being seen by an employer. The "last updated date" gives you verification of successful renewal.

    • If you apply online, the information you've marked as confidential WILL be included so that the employer can contact you. 
    • If you choose to hide your contact information, current company, and references, you must ALSO remove this information from your uploaded resume.

  1. Once you've signed in, scroll toward the bottom of the screen and find,"Scholarships I'm Interested In".
  2. Click, "View Scholarships". 
  3. From here, you can see the scholarships you've saved. 
  4. Above the column headers, click, "Return to Scholarship Search" to find new scholarship opportunities. 
  5. From here, you can search by Intended Major, your grade level, zip code, GPA, and college. 
  6. Be sure to save your search criteria for future use!

The first step to troubleshooting this issue:

Clear the cache & cookies from your internet browser. 

The 'cache' is a tool used by your internet browser to speed up the time it takes for a page to load. However, sometimes it can cause a problem when websites are updated. Information saved in the cache may conflict with what's actually coded into the website. Clearing Cache and Cookies is a way you can be sure that any issues you may come across are actually something wrong with the website, rather than inconsistencies caused by using different browsers.

Keyboard Shortcut for Most Browsers

If you are using Internet Explorer, Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox you can quickly clear cache with a keyboard shortcut. With your browser window open:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete simultaneously on the keyboard to open the appropriate window.
  2. Be sure to select all the options available to you: cache, cookies, any site data, site images, and files.

IMPORTANT: After you clear the cache and cookies data, be sure to close/quit the browser window & restart it.

Google Chrome for Windows 

  1.  Click the Tools menu (three dotted lines in the upper-right corner).
  2. Select History. 
  3. Select Clear Browsing Data from the left-hand side. Set the Time Range set to All Time. Check-mark Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files and select Clear Data.
  4. If on a Windows computer, close and re-open Chrome to save your changes. If on an Apple computer, go to the Chrome menu on the top menu bar and select Quit for the changes to take effect.

Google Chrome for iOS

  1. Open Google Chrome on your iOS device.
  2. Click on the menu toolbar in the bottom right corner.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Privacy.
  5. Select Cookies, Site Data, and Cached Images and Files. At the top, set the Time Range set to All Time.
  6. Click Clear Browsing Data at the bottom of the screen.
  7. Then confirm by clicking Clear Browsing Data again.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click on the Tools bar.
  2. Click on Options (On Mac, it's labeled Preferences).
  3. On the menu to the left, select Privacy & Security.
  4. Under the Cookies and Site Data option, click the "Clear Data..." button.
  5. Select only the two options and hit clear now.
  6. If on a Windows computer, close and re-open Firefox to save your changes. If on an Apple computer, go to the Firefox menu on the top menu bar and select Quit for the changes to take effect.

Microsoft Edge for Windows 10

  1. Click the Tools menu (three dotted lines in the upper-right corner) then click the Settings menu. 
  2. Click Privacy, search, and services on the left-side menu.
  3. Under the section Clear browsing data, Click Choose what to clear.
  4. Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
  5. Click Clear Now.
  6. Close Microsoft Edge completely for your changes to take effect.

Internet Explorer for Windows

  1. Click on the Settings menu in the upper-right corner.
  2. Click Internet options.
  3. Under the General tab on the upper-left-hand side, scroll down to Browsing history.
  4. Select Delete...
  5. Check the Temporary Internet files and website files, Cookies and website data, History, and Download History boxes.
  6. Select Delete.
  7. Close Internet Explorer and reopen it for changes to take effect. 

Safari for iOS

  1. Go to the Settings app on your device.
  2. Scroll down to the Safari menu.
  3. Scroll down and select Clear History and Website Data.
  4. A pop-up will come up verifying that you want to clear the History and Data. Select Clear History and Data.
  5. The button for Clear History and Website Data will turn gray when cache and cookies have been successfully cleared.

Safari (macOS)

  1. Click on Safari on the top menu bar.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Click the Privacy tab.
  4. Click Manage Website Data... 
  5. Click Remove All.
  6. Click Remove Now.
  7. Go to the Safari menu on the top menu bar. 
  8. Select Quit to close Safari and save your changes.
